Winter has been a busy season for our instructors, and Nancy Enriquez is no exception!

Nancy came to Minneapolis from Chihuahua, Mexico in October 2017 where Javier and Rebecca had the privilege of hosting her while she competed in the Racquetball US Open. Being a rising professional female racquetball player and an old friend, we were honored to show her our city and reminisce on old times. Given her busy schedule, we were both surprised and thrilled when she mentioned her desire to give back and serve her community through the talent and skills she has as a professional athlete!
Nancy began teaching the children of Restore with Mentor a Mentor in November and has been faithful to these children amidst her busy schedule of touring and competing all over the USA and Mexico. In January she took second place in her category at the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour- Sweet Caroline Open in Greenville, SC, second only to Paola Longoria, who, undefeated for three and a half years, is considered to be the greatest female racquetball player of all time (and is also Mexican!). To say that we are proud of Nancy would be an understatement, not to mention how honored we are to have her teaching the vulnerable children of Chihuahua who would never have had the opportunity to learn from such an exceptional athlete and overall human being.
In December, a local women’s group Nancy’s mother is a part of in Chihuahua gathered funds and gifted the children at Restore an athletic gear set, each child now equipped with proper tennis shoes, shirt and bottoms to train racquetball with her amongst the other sports and games they may partake in at school or at home.
Nancy has since decided to quit her other full time job to pursue racquetball full time and have the flexibility to work with the children she is teaching through Mentor a Mentor. Her passion and talent have been a blessing and example to many, and we are so thankful to have her on our team! Check out the pictures below of the gifts Nancy and the women’s group organized for the children at Restore, as well as a few recent images of her competitions.
And please, send up a prayer and well wishes for her as she competes in Nationals this week in Chihuahua, Mexico from February 21-25! The children from Restore will be there too, cheering on their beloved instructor from the stands!
