Empowering Those Who Empower Others

In August, our mentor Raul, or ‘Mariachi’, represented Mexico at the World Capoeira Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Mentors like Mariachi work hard daily not only to teach and instruct the children and youth in their own community, but also to continue in further personal training, development and competition of their own discipline. Mariachi has worked hard to earn money to support his family, and even harder to have extra in order to attend the competitions in Brazil. His personal investment goes above and beyond, and he is a better instructor and mentor because of it.

Mentor a Mentor was honored to sponsor Mariachi in Brazil to purchase a traditional ‘atabaque’, or conga drum, used for the songs sung in Capoeira and rhythm provided for the classes he teaches in Chihuahua, Mexico. With the extra funds he was also able to purchase training books and discs for the children he instructs.
